Have your say on the future of community health services

Central Victorians are being asked to have their say on how Bendigo Community Health Services can offer the best services where they’re needed, when they’re needed.

Bendigo Community Health Services delivers more than 50 programs across the region, which help people live healthier lives.

This includes access to GPs, along with services covering families and children, mental health and counselling, alcohol and other drugs, sexual health, men’s and women’s health clinics, supporting the LGBTIQ community and refugee settlement across the region.

HeadtoHelp becomes Head to Health

 

HeadToHelp services will soon transition to be known as Head to Health services to bring them in line with a national government rollout of the service that now includes NSW and the ACT.

It’s just a name change and a new look – with the same great service, support and telephone number.

BCHS Syringe Dispensing Unit’s at Eaglehawk and Kangaroo Flat

Bendigo Community Health Services has participated in the national Needle and Syringe Program (NSP) since its inception in the 1980s.

Funded through the Victorian Department of Health, the program enables intravenous drug users to access clean injecting equipment and safe disposal bins free of charge.

BCHS Reception sites at Central, Eaglehawk and Kangaroo Flat are the access points for clients during business hours.

Nurse Practitioner Week

This week is Nurse Practitoner Week and we asked some of our BCHS Nurse Practitioners to reflect on their highlights of the role and tell us more about what it means to be a Nurse Practitioner. 

 

Nurse Practitoners is a Registered Nurse with the experience, expertise and authority to diagnose and treat people of all ages with a variety of acute or chronic health conditions. Nurse Practitioners have completed additional university study at Master’s degree level and are the most senior and independent clinical nurses in our health care system.

Greater Bendigo’s Healthy Catering Guide

Bendigo Community Health Services and City of Greater Bendigo have come together to launch Greater Bendigo’s Healthy Catering Guide to help make healthy choices easy and accessible. 

This Guide has been developed to assist you to choose healthy options when ordering catering.

All menu items have been assessed through the Healthy Eating Advisory Services online ‘FoodChecker’ tool. Food and drinks meeting the GREEN and AMBER classifications have only been included in this guide to align with the Healthy choices: workplace healthy eating policy and catering guide.
