Forensic Mental Health
Bendigo Community Health Services’ Forensic Mental Health Team ensures people in the justice system can access mental health support in a timely manner.
The program is specifically for people over the age of 18 who are either on parole or a Community Corrections Order. We only receive referrals from the justice system, and they must fit the above two criteria of CCO or parole. Once the order ends, so does our service.
How we help
We undertake a comprehensive mental health assessment which includes history and psychosocial issues. We develop a plan with the client about what to work on and then provide therapy for the client.
A plan could include treatment such as, but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), counselling, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
All staff are registered under Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Referrals
The client must be on a Community Corrections Order or parole to access this service. To access this program, you must be referred via the Victorian Justice System. Once a referral is made, we will be in contact within 1-2 weeks to arrange an assessment.
Cost
This is a fully funded, free service.
Location
The service is offered at our Bendigo Central site at 165-171 Hargreaves Street.
